OPEN DAY OF THE SEASON AT BODMIN BOWLS CLUB
ON SATURDAY, 10 APRIL 2010

The Mayor and Mayoress of Bodmin,
Club President: Alan Smith & General Secretary: Reg Harris
There were two things that made Bodmin Bowls Clubs opening day special: the presence of the Mayor and Mayoress of Bodmin, Cllr Bob Micek and his wife Rita, and the glorious spring weather. After the introductions, the Mayor made a short speech in which he admitted that it had been many years since the mayoral chain of office had ventured into the Club. Then, despite not being himself a bowler, the Mayor managed to compensate for the chain's effect on his centre of gravity and delivered the first wood in a very workmanlike way to open the green. The Mayor and Mayoress were then shown around the Club's extensive facilities by club president, Alan Smith.
The afternoon was attended by 24 Bodmin bowlers who, whilst enjoying two hours of friendly competition in the sunshine, discovered muscles they never knew existed. The green bowled extremely well and it was hard to believe it was its first use this year. The members are looking forward to another successful outdoor season.
